St Stephen's
Holiday Club
"Rocky's Plaice
Included were the usual mix of activities
including stories, art and craft, music, games and singing and the children
had a great time and of
course on Friday evening we shared in a fish and chip supper!!! St Stephen's Day Centre for Elderly People Our day centre celebrated its 25th Anniversary in May. A birthday party was held on the afternoon of 10 May. Many people came along and enjoyed the entertainment. Thank you to Peggy and the team who help every week and many congratulations on this wonderful achievement. A few words from Peggy....... "A leap of faith, 25 years ago, and the good will of the church fellowship brought into being this service to the local community. It has been a blessing both to the carers and those needing help on just one day a week, when a good time (with some hard work thrown in) is had by all!"
Margaret and Gordon from St Stephens recently
walked St Cuthbert's Way, from Melrose in Scotland to Lindisfarne
(Holy Island), a distance of 64 miles. They have done this as a
sponsored walk, the money going between the our own Day Centre and
Methodist Homes. Sunday School Craft Day
Craft Day report From Jacqui, Junior Church Co-ordinator The craft day on 16th May had a Pentecost
theme. I wanted the children's finished work to represent the Holy Spirit.
The creche and younger infants made the doves by sticking white feathers
onto the card dove template, these were to represent the Spirit as it
appeared at the baptism of Christ. The juniors and older infants made the
tongues of fire background by weaving red and yellow ribbons onto a gold
wavy background, they took one rectangle each and the eight completed
rectangles were stuck together. the doves were then attached to the
weaving. Churches Together Night Ministry In May the Churches Together Night Ministry will be two years old. It was Cannock's response to a national Christian initiative known as HOPE 08. This valuable ministry takes place around 10 pm until 1 am every Friday night in Cannock town centre. More people are urgently needed to join the team. Please pray for the continuing work of this ministry.
